Leaders are seen as greater than life figures. So even in antiquity we used to aggrandize those leaders (beyond even the mortal realm), to the point where these qualities became qualifications. But as times changed, the demands we made of our leaders changed as well.

Hello again everyone! I’m afraid I have some explaining to do. You may have noticed a relative… dearth, shall we say, of articles lately. While I’d like to protest and scapegoat anyone else except myself, I’m afraid that I am the only person to blame. The truth is that my approach to this whole Blogging [...]

So there’s been a lot of hubbub about this whole adoption cycle in the Ubuntu world. That tends to happen when the big cheese himself decides to talk about it at the Ubuntu Developer Summit during his keynote. (Yeah, you probably don’t need to watch the whole thing. But, hey, if you wanna, there it [...]

Money, Just One More Time

by Jafar

What better way to break in an editorial section on a business geek’s blog then with a good look at money. Just what is money anyways? Sure, we can call it the fiat legal tender used as a medium of exchange, unit of account, store of value and a standard of deferred payment. (Haha, anyone [...]

Get Awesomer Every Day

by Jafar

Rome was built in a day. Not the whole sprawling empire that changed the face of the world, but the most important part was done in a day. The most important part? Rome, itself. You see, Romulus and Remus didn’t spend ages going over plans, meticulously dividing the city up according to this metric and [...]

Six Mistakes All Managers Make (Part One)

by Jafar

Let me be straight with you: There is no way I can fit every mistake managers make in one article. Yes, there’s that many. But let’s tackle a good number of them here. What’s a good number? Well I’m rather fond of six. Over-Estimate their importance We are eventually going to hit the point where [...]

Get Your Words Out (Ungarbled, Please)

by Jafar

Misspelling words make you look like an idiot. See that guy at the train-station taking a big ol’ bite of the turkey sandwich? His tie is too high up, looks like a novelty Tweety Bird tie, and shows that he’s missing a button on his belly. His shirt is wrinkly, his pants are too short, [...]

It’s OK to be R.E.A.L.!

by Jafar

I hate those types of managers. The ones that talk in their bizarre gobbledygook slang. Their glossed over eyes, stupid haircuts, terrible suits, scuffed shoes. It’s like they are pale imitations of some great manager past. Because that’s what they are, little faux-Carnegies. Don’t be like that. Come the Zombie Apocalypse, you’ll just get shot. [...]
